Wolf Dual Fuel Repair in Ravenna

Conditions here

  • Air Damp along the ravine Houses near the park ravine can stay damp through winter; a fault that comes and goes with wet weather points us at connections.
  • Building Older houses, older wiring The electric oven of a dual fuel range needs a sound 240-volt supply, and an old or reworked circuit is the first thing we test.
  • Access Street parking, front steps Some houses sit up a flight of steps from the street, so parts and meters travel by hand and we plan one trip in.
Stainless gas range with the oven door open and one cooktop burner stripped down to its base, wrench on the floor

Ravenna was built out in the streetcar years, and an older house there may run its kitchen on circuits that have been extended, patched or shared more than once. A Wolf dual fuel range asks more of that wiring than a gas range does, because its oven heats with electricity, and a weak or loose supply can leave the oven slow, the display blank or the controls unresponsive. Wolf Repair Seattle, (206) 339-4211, tests the supply at the range before it blames the control board.

When the controls really are at fault

Wolf’s own guidance for a dual fuel control panel that will not respond is simple: switch the breaker off for twenty seconds and back on. If that works, the question becomes why it locked up, and on an older circuit the answer can be the house. We measure the voltage under load and check the connections before reading the control itself.

A board or touch panel is condemned when the supply holds steady and the control still fails to switch what it should. That is the costliest band of range work, and what it runs is shown on the control board and touch panel cost page. Our other dual fuel checks are on our Wolf range repair page.

North in Wedgwood, the houses date from the war years and after, where a kitchen remodel has often brought newer circuits with it.

  • Convection fan rattled, then stopped halfway through a bake. The bearing had failed and a blade was catching the shroud. New motor, and the noise is gone.

  • Only the big burner would light, and only sometimes. The gas pressure at the riser was low for the whole building. He measured it, wrote the numbers down, and told me who to call.

  • Broil element glowed at one end only and smoked. He checked continuity, found a break near the terminal, and had the part with him. Ten minutes of work once the diagnosis was done.
