Wolf Range Repair in Washington Park

Conditions here

  • Air Tall trees by the Arboretum Storms bring branches down on the lines, so we ask whether a control fault began after the power went and came back.
  • Building Large older houses The range was often fitted in a later remodel, so we ask its width and whether it is gas or dual fuel before we set out.
  • Access Quiet streets, long drives Parking is rarely the difficulty here; tell us which door leads nearest the kitchen so tools take the short way in.
Pro-style stainless range against white subway tile, oven door open on an empty cavity and a rack laid on the floor beside it

Washington Park sits beside the Arboretum among large older houses, and their kitchens are built around wide ranges: forty-eight inches and more, with a door to match. A big oven door is the part of a Wolf range that works hardest without anyone noticing. Wolf Repair Seattle, (206) 339-4211, checks the door as an assembly, not as a complaint.

A wide door, and the heat that leaves at its corners

An oven door is a heavy hinged panel sealing against a gasket, and on a wide range it is the heaviest thing in the kitchen. Every opening loads the hinges; every closing compresses the gasket. The signs arrive in order: the door wants a push at the end of its travel, then sits proud at one top corner, then the oven browns unevenly there.

Do not test it by pulling at the gasket: Wolf asks that it is not cleaned or rubbed, because moving it compromises the seal. Look instead at the closed door from the side, at the gap along the top edge, and at how evenly the hinges pull. A door out of true is put right as hinges, glass and seal together, and where that sits against a new range of the same size is on the repair-or-new page. The rest of a range visit is on our range repair page.

Downhill to the south, Madison Valley lies low between the ridges, where grease finds its way into the burners.

  • Wall oven ran sixty degrees cold and locked itself out mid-roast. A sensor and a recalibration. He stayed for the full preheat to prove it held before writing anything up.

  • One element sat on full heat wherever the knob went. A relay had welded shut. He found it in twenty minutes and made no attempt to sell me a whole control.

  • Oven side went dead after a power cut while the cooktop carried on as normal. A blown thermal fuse and a tired igniter. Two parts off the van and it baked that evening.
